Business Survival Tips, Part 1

We hope you will enjoy our postings.  It is our intent that this blog discuss various questions and matters that our clients and others are inquiring about.  Initially we will be providing tips to business and franchise owners, executives and individuals who are looking to acquire a business or franchise.  We are open for any questions and comments that you have.  We would love to hear from you with your ideas and suggestions for surviving these troubled times.

In these challenging economic times I want to offer some tips for making your business stronger.  Tip number 1: NEGOTIATE FOR SERVICES AND PRODUCTS.  Most landlords, suppliers and others are willing to negotiate the fees due them.  Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount, question the amount charged, find out if there are additional deductions for which you qualify, and negotiate the amount charged.  You will be amazed at the number of companies that will reduce their fee if you ask.  My husband just spoke to a huge national insurance company that provides auto insurance for our cars.  In asking about discounts and deductions, he was asked if he had served in the military.  His answer was yes, he had.  He then mentioned he had a medical discharge from the military and receives a disability payment from the military as a result.  Based on that, we now receive a 20% discount of the total bill as a result of one simple question.  Tell me your stories.
