Tom Spadea presented a session on “Top Lease Clause Negotiations” to over 200 Jersey Mike’s franchisees attending the National Franchise Conference held in Orlando Florida. The entire conference, held from April 10th to April 12th had over 1,100 attendees. Tom Spadea & Matt Wizmur from Spadea Lignana made the trip after being invited to present by Mike Parkhill, the Senior Vice President & Director of Real Estate for Jersey Mike’s Franchise System.
The meeting was a huge success, with franchisees, managers and the Jersey Mike’s team attending from across the nation and internationally. Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza, gave an inspiring talk to the conference about his humble beginnings, the story of the rise of Domino’s Pizza and his focus on philanthropy and charity. It was inspiring to hear Peter Cancro, the Founder of Jersey Mike’s Subs talk about the good work and focus their franchisees have done and how giving back to the community and to each other is the cornerstone of their brand. Jersey Mike’s is a terrific company, well run with enthusiastic and dedicated franchisees. And of course, the subs are fantastic!
Spadea Lignana has been an approved vendor for negotiating leases and helping franchisees with selling their businesses, partnership agreements and general legal help for the past four years. It was an honor to be an invited guest to present ideas and best practices to franchisees on how to negotiate commercial retail leases.
